I love back to school time. After I finished school, I wanted to be a teacher so I could keep going to school. Then when I had kids I took it step further and made my home into a school. #homeschooling. Such good times. Growing up, school was a place I could learn, succeed, and indulge my favorite hobbies: reading and writing. I was in a fabulous school district and my parents and teachers supported me in my endeavors.
Joe’s experience with school couldn’t be more different. Let’s just say, he went to the school of hard-knocks. He struggled in school for many reasons, switched schools too many times due to foster care, and he wasn’t loved or supported. He was blind in one eye which made reading and any kind of schoolwork very challenging. And in reality he was more concerned with trying to survive than thinking about his future.
This week on the podcast we’re talking about our early school experiences and how they have shaped us. Episode 101: I went to the school of hard-knocks.
